In an attractive location under Gorica hill, between St. George’s Church and the city center, is located the Gradski Stadium in Podgorica. This temple of Montenegrin football has more than six decades long and interesting history.
Generations of football players grew on its “green carpet”, the best of them left an indelible mark on the annals of a football game and thus spread the glory of Montenegrin sport around the world.
Podgorica was given the first real stadium only after World War II, in 1947, when its first version with a wooden grandstand in the west was built. But unfortunately in 1954 the stadium burned down in a major fire. After that, the stadium was reconstructed and rebuilt several times.
