The women’s section of FK Budućnost Podgorica has been formed, the project will be managed by coach Duško Globarević, and our club will have two age categories in the upcoming season – senior and cadet squads.
After a year of break and reorganization, it was not easy to start from the beginning again, but enthusiasm, great will to work and sacrifice for the future of Montenegrin women’s football bore fruit.
“We managed to organize a senior team, we will also have female cadets, and it is clear that we will be dedicated to young and talented players at all times. We will do the roll call in two days, while we will start training on July 25,” said Globarević, who assembled a similar team that is in the 2020/21 season. almost took the title from the undisputed Breznica…
“A lot of female players went abroad, while the younger ones stayed in other Montenegrin clubs.” However, we brought back the main team from that season, of course there will be a supplementary selection, and I honestly think that Buducnost will be at an enviable level again. The name of the club obliges us to have the highest ambitions, we will not give up on that, but we will see how everything will unfold”.
Buducnost, as before, will think about the future of Montenegrin football…
“All our players were members of the national team, and that is the plan for the next season as well – to affirm them for the future of Budućnost and Montenegrin football.” In addition to senior women, we also registered female cadets who will be a year younger than their generation, and I think this is the right way,” Globarević said.
National football has flourished in Montenegro, but the club scene is far from ideal – Breznica has been the convincing champion for seven years, and only our Buducnost managed to come close to it in the mentioned season.
“Then we missed the title by one goal, but more important than anything else is that the league was better quality and more interesting.” I believe that we will make it more interesting next season as well. In our country, there are still prejudices regarding women’s football, but lately things have been changing. “Football is for girls, these projects are expanding all over the world, and now our league will have more clubs than last season, which is good for women’s football in our country,” Globarević explained.
