Yugoslav football cup was founded in 1947. Decision about the establishment of the Yugoslav Football Cup was adopted at the III Conference Yugoslav Sports Federation (FISAJ). The initiator of the idea of the Cup is not known, because there are no written documents about that, but it is certain that the decision was made by Fudbalski FISAJ board composed of arch. Kosta Popovic, Vladimir Dedijer, Aleksandar Tirnanic, Dragos Stevanovic, eng. Milorad Arsenijevic, prof. Mihailo Andrejevic, Rato Dugonjic and others.

The idea of the Cup Yugoslavia in football was formed in late 1945, but the final decision  it was postponed to July 4, 1947, and it was not until November 1947 that it was announced that Marshal Of Yugoslavia Josip Broz Tito awards a big silver cup to the Cup winner. That is why it was called the Marshal Tito Cup. It is this connection of the marshal with this through the competition, it made the Cup of Yugoslavia a real manifestation of the fraternity I unity.

The finals are over mostly, though not as a rule, played at the JNA Stadium in Belgrade, which, according to NSJ’s ideas, was to become the “Yugoslav Wembley”. Until 1969. year, the rules foresaw one final match in Belgrade. They are an exception were 1950 and 1951, when  played two games, and in 1967, when the finals were played in Split. From 1969 to 1988 they played there were two final matches in case one of the finalists was out Belgrade, and the return was played in Belgrade, in order to make one final match  re-applied since 1988.

At the end the final match, at a solemn ceremony, handed the trophy to the captain of the winning team special envoy of Josip Broz Tito, according to an unwritten rule, it was someone from top of the army. That cup was made of pure silver, 47 cm high and heavy 16.8 kg, and it was made by the academic painter Branko Šotra.

Surprises I excitement from the very beginning was a faithful companion of this competition, and such a knockout system he intensified the dedication of the teams on the field, because there was no room for correction mistakes .. Only one rule applies when it comes to Cup matches: no  favorites, the advantage of the home field is lost, the “small” do not respect the “big”. Better is the one who wants to win more that day, plays better and more efficiently, who has more cares to go further.

After the break-up of Yugoslavia, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Cup is played for the FSJ Cup (Football Association of Yugoslavia) since 1993, the Cup of Serbia and Montenegro since 2003, and the Cup Of Serbia since 2006. As a member Other leagues – “East”, “The future is in the 1964/65 season. came to the historical success. Namely, our club played in the finals of the Yugoslav Cup for the first time, which was one of the biggest sensations of that period in domestic football. Buducnost will play in the finals of this Cup once again in the 1977/78 season. Which will it will be the only two appearances in the final of the Marshall Tito Cup of a Montenegrin club.

Great performance of Titograd, led by Božidar from the bench Dedović, started in the sixteenth finals, on October 28, 1964. In a duel republic rivals, “Budućnost” in Nikšić surprised the first league team “Sutjeske”, triumphing with the result 3: 2. In the round of 16, it is under Gorica defeated “Radnicki” from Belgrade (1: 0). The quarterfinals were on the program on the 28th.

April, and “Budućnost” eliminated another one in front of its fans first league team – OFK “Belgrade” (3: 2). In the semifinals, which was on the program. On May 12, “Budućnost” hosted “Vardar”, which was valid for before the duel a convincing favorite. But another Premier League side was defeated in a great series players from Titograd – the “blues” celebrated in Skopje with the result 2: 0 and thus won a place in the grand final.

About an exceptional result “Budućnosti”, published on May 16, 1965, on the sports pages of the newspaper “Victory”, among other things, read the following:

“Unexpected but “Buducnost” is fully deserved on May 26 at the JNA Stadium, for the first time since exists, fights for the trophy of the President of the Republic. It is a success that is its own with its size and significance, it overshadowed all previous results achieved by this one club. “

In the final, the Dinamo team, which was the previous year, was waiting for them defeated in the Cup final with a score of 3: 0 by Red Star and that year with great desire came to return the cup to their showcases (Dinamo won the Cup in season 1962/63.). The team from Zagreb was led to the finals by coach Vlatko Konjevod, who affirmed young players, including Mladen Ramljak. A young team led by Captain Rudolf Belin with long-range mastery projectiles, and in a dream tandem attack: Jerković – Zambata. Bad performances in the championship Konjevod made up for it in the cup (Dinamo is in the championship finished in 8th place).

They are Dynamo until the Cup trophy and in 1965 led by Zlatko Škorić, Mladen Ramljak, Zlatko Mesic, Miljenho Puljcan, Adem Kasumovic, Rudolf Belin, Denijel Pirić, Stjepan Lamza, Željko Matuš, Dražan Jerković and Slaven Zambata.

On that day, our team played in the final of the Cup in the following composition: Jovan Hajduković, captain Mišo Folić, Vojo Gardašević, Spasoje Pavlović, Cvetko Savkovic, Slobodan Kovacevic, Dragan Sakovic, Desimir Todorovic, Istvan Sorban, Gano Ćerić, Vlatko Franović, and later Miki Ivanović got the opportunity.

The “Blues” took the lead through Slaven Zambata in the 19th minute, to be the same the player raised the score ten minutes later. The future is Vlatko’s goal Franović (popular Fran) returned in the 35th minute to hope that a turnaround is possible. However, Captain Miso Folic and his comrades did not have the strength for a total turnaround, but no luck.

Without looking for an excuse for the defeat of our guys in the final match, it is worth it note that the Future was then by the power of the powerful in the FSJ and partly by indecision of its club management had to play three championship matches, and between them and duel of the Cup final with Dinamo, in a period of seven days.

Unfortunately for the unconquered cup, it glowed in our city until the arrival of the new one a generation that will try to fulfill the task of its own ten years later predecessor.
