It’s time for a big fight!

Last Thursday, our Buducnost equalized the best result in Europe with a sensational victory over Astana (1: 0) by placing in the 3rd round of qualifications for the Europa League, and tonight at 8 pm they will attack the historic placement in the playoff round of the second quality European competition.

The opponent is the champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Sarajevo – in Zenica at the Bilino polje stadium, because Koševo does not meet UEFA’s conditions.

It will be a duel of old rivals from the time of SFRY, who have played 47 matches so far – our “blues” have celebrated 14 times, a draw has been seen in 13 matches, while the “burgundy team” has recorded 20 victories.

The blue masters respect the tradition, but it does not burden them, because they are aware that they can write one of the most beautiful pages in the history of our club.

“Sarajevo is a quality team, but we and they play on the visiting field, so that can be an advantage for us. The champion of BiH deserves respect, but our goal is to win and move on,” said high forward Aleksandar Vujacic.

The head of the professional staff, Mladen Milinković, has great respect for the people of Sarajevo and their coach Vinko Marinović, but he had a clear message that perfectly reflects the mood in our camp.

“We eliminated Astana, which was the favorite, but when you do something in life, you don’t have to be satisfied with just that. You should always strive for something bigger,” said our coach.

Our left back Nemanja Sekulić confirmed that the players think similarly.

“We haven’t done anything we can do in Zenica. That’s why we have to be on the ground,” the 26-year-old left-hander said clearly, so that lucid winger Igor Ivanovic would promise that our champions would not take off.

“Sarajevo is weaker than Astana in terms of coefficient, if we could have chosen, we would certainly like to play with Sarajevo in the 3rd round of qualifications, but that does not mean that we will relax. We neither can nor can. We have to be more aggressive and concentrated than against Astana, because the stakes are much higher, and the wish of all of us is to reach the playoffs for the Europa League “, said Ivanović.

And the high stopper of our club, Igor Ćuković, has only one wish – to see Buducnost on the last step before the group stage of the Europa League.

“We have to stay on the ground and impose our game from the first minute, as was the case against Astana, and write the best result in history”.

Budućnost and Sarajevo played their first match on May 7, 1950 under Gorica when our club celebrated with 2: 1, while the last official match between the blue and burgundy team was seen on November 24, 1991 when Sarajevo won from home with 4 : 1.

You can watch the match of the 3rd round of qualifications for the Europa League, Sarajevo – Budućnost, on RTCG 2 television, on the RTCG satellite channel, as well as on our youtube channel FK Budućnost Podgorica.
